About a week before the virus would not allow us anymore public outdoor activities, on a beautiful sunny Sunday, March 8^th 2020, we did one more hike in the Northern part of Andros. The group of 14 hikers from all parts of the island – some for the first time with us, others joining almost every maintenance hike – ascended from Agios Petros beach towards the beautiful village of Ano Agios Petros.

After a short stop at the ancient tower and a lunch break at the village square with its scenic spring we walked along the mountain ridge towards Ano Gavrio. Always doing some light maintenance work cutting branches and removing stones from the path we started to climb down through the river valley of Ano Gavrio (a bit adventurous because quite a steep path) and reached our end point in Gavrio – just in time for some participants from Athens to board the ferry, or for others to enjoy a meal in one of the restaurants.
