The director Vangelis Theodoropoulos about Andros and its paths
Vangelis Theodoropoulos, Director, founder of the Neos Cosmos Theatre, artistic director of the Athens Festival and Epidaurus (2016-2019), drama teacher, husband, father, grandfather… has a house in Andros, lives on the island for several months and among us! Read an excerpt from what he told Rania Tzifopoulou Konstantinidis for EVANDROS magazine, summer 2024.
We thank him very much for his kind words.
“… our son was going to primary school. We stayed first in Ormos Korthiou and then in Aidonia. Since then, we haven’t missed a single summer from Andros. We have walked it from end to end. In 2009, we built a house in a remote location, in Stavria, overlooking Gyaros and Tzia. Fortunately we caught up and built it before the economic crisis hit. We started going in the winters as well. We spent over a year in lockdown on the island. We walked all paths. Well done to the people who maintain and mark them. We like the quietness of Andros, the deserted beaches we always find, the sunsets. Greens, wild asparagus, capers, figs. It’s the best place to prepare for my directorials.”
