  • Gavrio-Ano Gavrio-Amolochos-Frousei mill village

    This long distance route combines very diverse landscapes such as the green valley of Ano Gavrio, the Profitis Ilias mountain ridge, the historic village of Amolohos and the spectacular ravine of Frousaioi with its numerous water mill ruins. It is possible to hike parts of this route – for example only the Frousei mills route-as there are several access points along the way

    Starting point: Point here at our map – At the bridge where the main road to Ano Gavrio crosses the Gavrio river although a more convenient start of the walk would be from Gavrio where there is ample parking

    Ending point: point here at our map-At Agia Irini Chrysovalantou chapel close to Sidontas village road junction on the main road from Gavrio to Varidi

  • Transportation-Parking

    Transportation : (starting point 1,8 km from Gavrion port) Private transport arrangements must be made in order to return from the end of the walk

    Parking : Ample space at Gavrio port, limited parking space close to the starting point of the walk, small parking space at the ending point of the walk

  • Useful advice

    • There are many wire mesh gates along the route which must be closed after passing through
    • One can choose to do this hike in parts : 1) the part of Frousei ravine and mill village in that case access by branch 14b at Kapsala parish on the main road from Gavrio to Varidi, close to Varidi area (taxi costs about 25 euros from Gavrio) and 2) the part from Amolochos to Gavrio (taxi costs about 25 euros from Gavro to Amolochos)

    Closest restaurants : at Mermigies (every day summer & week-ends all year round), Fellos (only summer months) and Gavrio
