On Sunday 10.12.2023, in honour of the International Mountain Day*, five hikers from Gavrio, Ano Gavrio and Fellos, gathered at 10.30 am in Scholi at the beginning of the circular path 15a.

The weather was great, with sunshine, stillness and a temperature of around 15 degrees, perfect for hiking, even though it had rained continually the previous days, which unfortunately prevented many people from participating. But even five people are enough to take care of the path and keep it clear with their footsteps. So we hiked the circular route forming a small, but nice group.

The path was clear and well signposted, we removed some bushes and branches that had been buried by the dirt swept away by the rain.

The path was filled with flowering heather having all shades of purple and all scents of the mountain, while the first grasses made their appearance, the last drops of rain shining on them.

All along the way we were accompanied by some goats with their newborn kids.
So, enjoying the beautiful company and nature, he carried out our maintenance hike.
We would like to thank all those who participated in this hike and especially Nikos Paraskevopoulos, the Route Angel of the path.

We are looking forward to seeing you at the last maintenance hike of 2023 on Tuesday 26.12.2023.

*The 11th of December was established in 2003 by the United Nations as International Mountain Day to highlight the vital role that mountains play in people’s lives and to remind the international community of its responsibility to preserve them.
